Outline:

God is My Delight and Deliverer (1-3)

I am God’s Delight and Delivered (4-30)

  1. Our testimony and song are of God's sovereign control over all events and deliverances.

  2. Our testimony and song remind us of God's covenant faithfulness to produce in us a righteousness rooted in grace not personal merit.

God is My Equipper and I am his Exalter (31-50)

  1. Let our testimony and song be thanksgiving to Jesus for ultimate deliverance from sin, despair, and brokenness.

  2. Let our testimony and song be the appropriate human response of praise.

Call to Worship - Psalm 29:1-9, 2a - Jonathan Wisdom, Worship Pastor

Song of Praise - “A Mighty Fortress is Our God”

VERSE 1
A mighty fortress is our God
A bulwark never failing
Our helper He amid the flood
Of mortal ills prevailing
For still our ancient foe
Doth seek to work us woe
His craft and pow'r are great
And armed with cruel hate
On earth is not his equal

VERSE 2
If we in our own strength confide
Our striving would be losing
Were not the right Man on our side
The Man of God's own choosing
You ask who that may be
Christ Jesus it is He
The Lord of Hosts His name
From age to age the same
And He must win the battle

VERSE 3
And tho' this world with devils filled
Should threaten to undo us
We will not fear for God hath willed
His truth to triumph thru us
The Prince of Darkness grim
We tremble not for him
His rage we can endure
For lo! his doom is sure
The Word of God shall fell him

VERSE 4
That word above all earthly powers
No thanks to them, abideth
The Spirit and the gifts are ours
Through Him who with us sideth
Let goods and kindred go
This mortal life also
The body they may kill
God’s truth abideth still
His Kingdom is forever

Prayer of Confession & Intercession - Joey Thames, Ruling Elder

Song of Gospel Assurance - “Christ the Sure and Steady Anchor”

VERSE 1
Christ the sure and steady anchor in the fury of the storm
When the winds of doubt blow through me and my sails have all been torn
In the suffering, in the sorrow, When my sinking hopes are few
I will hold fast to the anchor, It shall never be removed

VERSE 2
Christ the sure and steady anchor while the tempest rages on
When temptation claims the battle and it seems the night has won
Deeper still then goes the anchor, though I justly stand accused
I will hold fast to the anchor, It shall never be re - moved

VERSE 3
Christ the sure and steady anchor through the floods of unbelief
Hopeless, somehow, O my soul, now lift your eyes to Calvary
This my ballast of assurance, see His love forever proved
I will hold fast to the anchor, It shall never be removed

VERSE 4
Christ the sure and steady anchor as we face the wave of death
When these trials give way to glory as we draw our final breath
We will cross that great horizon, Clouds behind and life secured
And the calm will be the better, For the storms that we endured

TAG
Christ the shore of our salvation, ever faithful, ever true
We will hold fast to the anchor, it shall never be removed
