Teaching Passage: 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
Loving Well By Deprioritizing Good Things
OUTLINE:
Considering the Difference Between a Life of Love and a Life of Performance
Extraordinary gifts are given to the godly and ungodly alike (Matt. 7:22, 23; 10:1-8).
Extraordinary gifts are privileges not securities.
Extraordinary gifts may be used against us in judgment but not love (Heb. 6:4-8).
Extraordinary gifts do not last but Christian love does (1 Cor. 13:8).
Recognizing Vital Dependency
Recognize Christian love comes to us by grace alone (Rom. 5:5, 8).
Recognize we need God’s loving family for loving well (Eph. 4:15, 16).
Recognize we need the word of God and prayer for loving well (John 15:7-12).
