Sermon: 1 John 2:18-27 - “Addressing the Antichrist” - David Rountree
Outline:
The term antichrist is only in the Bible four times (1 John 2:18; 22; 4:3; 2 John7).
Notice four things:
Antichrist is a multitude not one individual (1 John 2:18, 19; 2 John 7).
Antichrist is a belief system denying the gospel—saving work of Jesus (1 John 2:22).
Antichrist is not political but religious in nature (1 John 2:19; 2 John 2:7).
Antichrist can be in our past, present and future (1 John 2:18; 4:3).
Stay Aware of Antichrist
Aware of those bent on departure (v. 19).
Aware of those bent on denial (vv. 22, 23)
Aware of those bent on deception (v. 26)
Stand Against Antichrist
Stand through abiding (vv. 24, 25)
Stand with our anointing (vv. 20, 21, 27)
