Sermon: Exodus 20:8-11 - “Keeping Sabbath Time With God” - David Rountree

OUTLINE:

How We Keep Sabbath Time With God

  1. Block it out (v. 8).

  2. Keep it set apart (v. 8).

  3. Keep it through family authority (vv. 9-10).

  4. Keep it work-free (v. 10).

  5. Keep it filled with commemoration and reflection of God (v.8-11).

Why We Keep Sabbath Time With God

  1. Because God wants it (v. 11).

  2. Because redemption needs to be celebrated (Deut. 5:15).

  3. Because God has pledged a blessing on the sabbath (v. 11).

  4. Because God made it holy (v. 11).
