  1. Petition for Consideration (v.3a)

  3. Enlightened Counsel for us:

  • Pain teaches us contentment with God’s ways and words.

  • Pain makes us face the reality of more than we can bear.

  • Pain brings us more consistently before the throne of grace.

  • Pain teaches us to abandon American individualism.

  • Pain teaches us to minister to others.

The Advice to Flee (1-3)

The Answer of Faith (1a & 4-7)

How We Can Take Refuge in Christ:

  1. Acknowledge God's awareness of and sovereignty over our problems (1, 4, 5, 7).

  2. Realize avoiding our problems by running or leaving will only work temporarily (5, 6).

  3. Seek God's grace solutions to our problems through increased prayer, corporate worship, Bible reading, fellowship and Christian counsel (1a).

  4. Obey God's solution immediately and with long-suffering (1, 7).

  5. Anticipate the joy of seeing God's smile upon our lives (7b).
